Dennis Nolan Bio
Dennis Nolan's acute skill and inherited training of the old Master's techniques create the timeless and ethereal
qualities in his drawings and paintings. Mr. Nolan is a respected expert at drawing and painting the human figure
and conveying that knowledge to his many students. With his interest in pictures that tell stories, coupled with his vast abilities, Nolan successfully turns dreams into reality on paper, placing him squarely among a select group of today’s most talented artists.
A highly sought after artist, Mr. Nolan's work is in private and public collections, which include the New Britain Museum of American Art and the collection of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
(a commissioned portrait). Dennis Nolan has illustrated over 30 books which have have been selected for a number of
prestigious awards including the Prix de Zephyr from France for THE CASTLE BUILDER and SCBWI's Golden Kite Honor for DINOSAUR DREAM, both for books that were also written by Mr. Nolan.
Dennis Nolan founded the Illustration Program at the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford in 1986, a
highly successful traditional program of study, where he continues to teach.
